Moon, OLSH boys open play in PIAA soccer tournament

Two West Hills area high schools will open play Tuesday in the PIAA boys soccer tournament.

Moon, fresh off a victory in the WPIAL 3A championship match against Franklin Regional, will host Lampeter Strasburg at 6 p.m.

The Tigers have yet to lose in 22 starts this season. Lampeter Strasburg, 16-2-3, is the No. 4 representative from District 3.

Moon defeated Franklin Regional, 3-1, Saturday at Highmark Stadium to claim its second WPIAL title in the last three seasons.

In Class 1A, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart will bring a 15-3 record into its 6 p.m. match against host Brockway.

The Chargers lost in the Class 1A WPIAL title game on penalty kicks to Bentworth Thursday.

Brockway won the District 9 championship and enters Tuesday’s game with a 12-6-1record.
