High school roundup: Moon’s Stepp continues to shine with two more top finishes

Rachel Stepp, a sophomore sprinter from Moon Area, claimed victories in both the 200- and 400-meter races at the Pine-Richland Invitational. Her teammate Alena Taylor also won the 300-meter hurdles. Both the Tigers' girls and boys teams triumphed in their respective 4x400 relay events.

High school roundup: Ray throws for three TDs as Moon whips Ambridge in flag football

The Moon Area Tigers defeated Ambridge 32-0 Wednesday in a girls flag football game, with Syd Ray throwing three touchdown passes. In boys volleyball, South Fayette beat Montour, while Butler triumphed over Moon. Moon's track team had individual successes but was eliminated in Tuesday's playoffs.

Carlynton overcame an early 7-2 deficit and a subsequent 14-12 deficit in extra innings to edge Bentworth, 15-14, in 10 innings. Carter Donlin's RBI single clinched the win, while Isaac Anker led with five hits and scored four runs.

PIAA track: Three West Hills athletes bring home medals from state meet

Three athletes from the West Hills area earned medals during Saturday's final session of the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University. Carlynton's Jordynn Carter secured third in the girls triple jump, while Rachel Stepp and Maria Depner, both of Moon Area, placed fifth and seventh in their events, respectively.
