David E. Williams Middle School student Donquia Snowden Jr. helped lead the Pittsburgh Steelers 10U team to the NFL Flag Championships finals, showcasing his skills with a touchdown catch and a significant defensive performance. The team ultimately lost 27-26 to the Seattle Seahawks.

Sto-Rox High School’s girls flag football team, under coach Lauren Ferragonio, achieved a remarkable 9-3-1 record this season. Key players Rae Johnston and Kamiyah Thompson contributed greatly, with Johnston set to play at Point Park University. Next season, leadership will continue with Viyhshaela Macon, notable for her positive influence.

Moon Area’s attempt to reach the inaugural WPIAL girls flag football championship ended with a 26-13 loss to Plum in Thursday’s semifinals. The Tigers finished the season with a 12-4 record. Elsewhere, four West Hills teams will battle in the WPIAL softball tournament, which starts next week. WPIAL baseball pairings will be unveiled Friday.

The Moon Area Tigers rolled to a pair of wins Tuesday in the inaugural WPIAL girls flag football championship playoffs, held at Montour High School’s Thomas J. Birko Memorial Stadium. Moon defeated Keystone Oaks, 33-13, in Tuesday’s tournament opener and followed with a 33-6 win over top seeded Seton LaSalle.
