August Lichtner’s RBI single led Western Beaver to a 7-6 walkoff victory against Bishop Canevin in the WPIAL Class 1A baseball playoffs, ending Bishop Canevin’s season. Meanwhile, Moon Area and Montour prepare for their quarterfinal matchups Tuesday in Class 5A. And in boys volleyball, three West Hills athletes were named to an all-section team.

Both Our Lady of the Sacred Heart and Montour were eliminated in the WPIAL boys volleyball playoffs, with OLSH losing to Shaler 3-0 and Montour falling to Seton LaSalle 3-1. In softball, OLSH lost to Neshannock 11-1 and Jeannette defeated Bishop Canevin 10-0. Upper St. Clair eliminated Moon in girls lacrosse.

West Hills high school teams are gearing up for WPIAL postseason competitions on Thursday across four sports: track and field, softball, boys volleyball and girls lacrosse. Notable participants include defending champion Rachel Stepp in track, Bishop Canevin in softball, Moon in girls lacrosse and both OLSH and Montour in boys volleyball.

The Moon Area Tigers dominated Baldwin 16-1 in a WPIAL Class 5A baseball opener, featuring strong performances from Nick Machusko and Andrew Cross. Four high school teams from West Hills have advanced to the WPIAL baseball playoffs. Moon Area, Montour, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, and Bishop Canevin will compete based on their section performances, with games scheduled for May 11 and 12. In WPIAL boys volleyball, both Montour and OLSH qualified for tournament play.
