The Carlynton girls track and field team posted a pair of victories Thursday, beating Brentwood, 115-21, and Chartiers-Houston, 103-37, in a Class 2A Section 5 meet.
In the boys meet, the Cougars fell 69-63 to Brentwood and 71-65 to Chartiers-Houston despite some outstanding individual performances.
In the girls meet, Carlynton boasted nine individual event winners, led by Jordynn Carter and Bridget McNamara, who won two individual events.
Carter took first in the 100-meter dash in 13.06 seconds and won the triple jump with a leap of 35-8. McNamara won the 1,600 in 5 minutes, 44.92 seconds and also won the 800 in 2:51.19.
Lani Blevins took first in the 3,200 with a time of 12:08.89; Riley Mauro won the 100 in 17.54; Grace Prepelka finished first in the 400 in 1:04.82, Clare Ruffing’s mark of 17 feet, 10 inches was good for first place in the long jump and Milad Majed won the shot put with a 28-0 effort.
Also finishing among the top three in their events were Carter, 2-long jump; Blevins, 2-1,600; Aireonya White 2-100; Maria Leithasuer, 2-3,200, 3-1,600; Bella Sysak, 2-800; Ava Pancake, 3-800; Hayleigh Loeffert, 2-200, 3-javelin; Lana Michelcic, 3-3,200; Ruffing, 2-javelin, 3-high jump; and Willow Palmer, 3-shot put, 3-discus.
In the boys competition, Jermell Lindsey, Ethan Moldovan and Henry Barbisch each won two individual events for Carlynton.
Lindsey placed first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.56 seconds and came back to take the 300 hurdles in 43.65.
Moldovan won the 1,600 in 5 minutes, 5.14 seconds and placed first in the 3,200 in 10:55.11.
Barbisch won the shot put with a throw of 44 feet, 1 inch and later won the javelin with a toss of 123-5. Barbisch also finished second in the discus and Lindsey placed third in the 100.
Also finishing among the top three in their respective events were Ryan Lewis, who finished second in both the high jump and long jump; Dominic Mancini, who placed second in the 800; and Luke Palmer, who finished third in both the shot put and discus.
