Reese Keslar and Avery Machusko each scored three goals and Shiri Kudratullaev came up with 10 saves in goal to lead Moon to a 13-7 victory over visiting Norwin Thursday night in the quarterfinals of the WPIAL Class 3A girls lacrosse tournament.
The victory vaults the fourth-seeded Tigers, now 14-4 overall, into Monday’s semifinal matchup with top-seeded Pine-Richland at a time and location to be determined.
Gianna Deluca and Hailey Hutton each contributed two goals for the winners. Scarlet Eubanks, Marleigh Therrien and Kamryn White each scored a goal for Moon.
Keslar added two assists to go with her three goals while Machusko, Therrien, White and Vita Hazen each chipped in with an assist.
Pine-Richland, now 18-2, earned its spot in the semifinal matchup by whipping Shady Side Academy, 16-5, Thursday night.
In Monday’s other semifinal game, No. 2 seed Upper St. Clair will take on No. 3 Mt. Lebanon.
The two semifinal winners will square off at Upper St. Clair High School either May 21 or May 22. That has yet to be determined.
The top three finishers in the WPIAL tournament will advance to the PIAA tournament, which gets underway June 3.
Moon and Pine-Richland met once during the regular season with the Rams prevailing, 14-8. That was Moon’s lone loss in eight section games.
