Milestone night for OLSH’s DiMichele

Thirty seconds left in the first half of a high school basketball game seems like no big deal, the star player pulls up, launches a 3-pointer and drains it.

Nothing out of the ordinary, right? It happens all the time.

Wait. Hold the phone. Stop the presses. Stop the game. For on this night, with a single shot, history was made by Chargers Guard Jake DiMichele as he netted his 2,000th career point in an Our Lady of the Sacred Heart uniform.

The milestone happened in the Chargers 78-38 blowout win over the South Side Area Rams. DiMichele would finish the contest with 29 points and is the all-time points scorer at OLSH.

DiMichele is just the 31st player in WPIAL history to score 2,000 points. He continues to add to his 2,000 point mark. Having the rest of the regular season along with hopefully a long run into the postseason, rest assured that total will continue to grow and bolster his ever growing college resume.
