Blessed Home Project provides the gift of clean for those in need of a helping hand

A Moon Township resident and a 2002 Montour High School grad, Melissa Laughlin, has been serving the West Hills communities since 2021 with her nonprofit cleaning service, Blessed Home Project.

At 19, Laughlin, who grew up in Kennedy Township, began her own cleaning company and as that began to develop she felt there was more she could be doing with her passions and abilities.

Laughlin said she wanted to fulfill a need in times of difficulty for people.

Blessed Home Project’s services provide free house cleaning for those going through a difficult time and are in need of the extra help.

“Most people do meal trains,” Laughlin said, but she realized her cleaning company can do more for those going through difficult times, which is how the Blessed Home Project got started.

“We provide free house cleaning to people going through difficult times–whether cancer, seniors with mobility or health issues, veterans and other challenging situations,” wrote Laughlin when requesting West Hills Gazette tell her organization’s story.

Laughlin also said that her team provides encouragement and “helps take some of the burden off of people’s plates.”

The team, on average, cleans three days a week and two houses per day and her clients can receive up to three hours of free cleaning and also provide Laughlin and her team with a priority list so they can prepare for their day.

The project is already up to 160 homes this year. Laughlin characterized her services as a “practical gift” and added that “everyone enjoys a clean space.” She said the Blessed Home Project is a way for her to help the community and show others that they are not alone.

As for the community, there are a lot of ways to help or get involved with Laughlin and her project team. Saturday activities at the Blessed Home Project are run by volunteers, and Laughlin said the group is always looking for volunteers and donations.

Laughlin said anyone looking to donate or volunteer can sign up on their website, BlessedHomeProject.org.

Local businesses also can get involved in the project by becoming a partner with the organization.

There will also be a fundraiser and “Christmas Celebration” at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5, at the Four Twelve Project, 988 Brodhead Road, Moon Township. Tickets are $60.

Those interested in signing up to volunteer, provide donations or purchase tickets for the Blessed Home Project’s fundraiser can be found on the website.
