Students at Montour High School will find a new associate principal on campus when they return for the start of classes on Aug. 21.
Carrie Woodard, who most recently served as director of Student Support Services-School Counselors for Pittsburgh Public Schools, was hired as associate principal for Academic and Student Affairs at Montour.
The Montour Board of School Directors approved Woodard’s hiring at its July 17 meeting.
At the same meeting, the board also granted a six-month paid leave of absence to Kylee Crawshaw, who had been serving as an associate principal at the high school.
According to the Montour School District, Woodard has worked as a college and career counselor, school counselor, project manager and classroom teacher.
She is also a published writer on the topic of Black youth mental health and has been a regular contributor to Pittsburgh Parent online, specializing in education topics.
According to Woodard’s LinkedIn page, she started her position with Pittsburgh Public Schools in April 2022. Prior to that she worked a little less than five years for Propel Schools in the Greater Pittsburgh region, including two years as a college and career counselor at Propel Montour High School.
The Montour School District is expected to release an administrative restructuring plan after the start of the school year.
