The first cup of coffee at Allegheny County’s first 7 Brew Coffee location could be served by the end of next month.
Construction is moving along at the site of the new drive-thru-only coffee stand, located at 5960 University Blvd. in Moon Township.
Township officials said they weren’t sure when the location would open, but a 7 Brew spokesperson said Tuesday the stand would be open by the end of November.
The area of University Boulevard that is home to the new shop is seeing steady growth and new business activity.
Chris Heck, Pittsburgh Airport Area Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, said the development fits into the community’s broader vision for economic expansion.
“Any new business that comes in — it’s a positive sign,” Heck said. “Moon Township is experiencing a significant wave of growth right now. 7 Brew Drive-Thru is positioned both metaphorically and literally for success.”
Heck also noted that the spot’s visibility and proximity to Robert Morris University make it a prime location.
“There’s lots of traffic in both directions,” Heck said. “I think it will succeed.”
Local residents have shared a mix of excitement and cautious optimism about the arrival of the Arkansas-based coffee chain, known for its speedy service and upbeat drive-thru experience.
Moon Township resident Trish Ann said she hopes 7 Brew’s Pittsburgh-area debut will lead to the chain opening more nearby stores.
“I wish they did have more locations in the Pittsburgh area,” she said. “The location that they are putting in Moon — not sure how that will work in that little parking lot area, but [I’m] very hopeful.”
7 Brew has experienced a rapid expansion in the eight years since its founding. In 2022, 7 Brew had just 14 locations nationwide. Today, that number stands at 514.
7 Brew offers a menu of custom espresso drinks, energy-infused beverages, teas and smoothies. Many customers look forward to their featured drinks of the month, which in October includes a Blood Orange 7 Energy, Boo Raspberry 7 Fizz Soda and Strawberry Brewchata Chai Latte.
