National coffee chain 7 Brew is bringing its fast-growing drive-thru operation to Moon Township, marking its first location in Allegheny County
Other Western Pennsylvania locations in progress include Washington and Indiana.

The new coffee drive-thru will be built at 5960 University Blvd., in Moon Plaza directly across from Robert Morris University. It will replace the former PNC Bank building, which will be demolished to make way for new construction.
With more than 400 locations nationwide, 7 Brew is known for its fast service and highly customizable drinks — offering thousands of flavor combinations in specialty coffee, energy drinks, teas and smoothies. There’s even a secret menu available on third-party websites and social media, with drinks like Banana Bread (banana and hazelnut coffee), Dragon’s Blood (a blue raspberry and cherry energy drink) and Sugar Cookie (vanilla, cupcake and white chocolate coffee).
The 7 Brew drive-thru follows a Chick-fil-A-style model, said Bob Gage, the company’s legal representative, at the Moon Township Board of Supervisors meeting on June 4.
“No pedestrians, no walk-in, all drive-thru traffic,” he said, describing the business model.
“The idea is to get people in and out as quickly as possible,” Gage said.
When you drive up, a team member takes your order outside at your car, and you pull around the other side of the building where another employee hands you the order under a covered pavilion.
The Moon Township Board of Supervisors approved the project, including zoning adjustments related to landscaping, sidewalks and lighting.
According to 7 Brew headquarters, construction will begin soon on the Moon Township location, and it’s expected to open late this year or early next year.
