The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Friday that two road construction projects would get underway Monday, Nov. 10, in two West Hills communities, weather permitting.
The first involves the closure of the ramp from Grand Avenue to northbound I-79 in Neville Township. The second pertains to overnight restrictions on the I-79 ramps in Collier and Robinson townships.
The ramp that carries traffic from Grand Avenue to northbound I-79 will close to traffic from 5 a.m. Monday, Nov. 10, continuously through 6 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 23, as crews conduct deck repair work. All ramp traffic will be detoured.
For the I-79 ramp work in Collier and Robinson, a traffic shift and shoulder closure will continue nightly from 6 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Thursday nights in the following locations:
Ramp from northbound I-79 to westbound I-376 (Exit 59B) toward the Airport.
Ramp from southbound I-79 to eastbound I-376 (Exit 59A) toward Pittsburgh.
Crews will conduct delineator installation work. The ramps will remain open.
The posted detour for the Grand Avenue to northbound I-79 work in Neville Township is as follows:
- From Grand Avenue head westbound
- Continue across the Coraopolis Bridge to Route 51
- Turn right onto northbound Route 51 (Fourth Avenue)
- Turn left onto Montour Street
- Turn left onto southbound Route 51 (Fifth Avenue)
- Continue on southbound Route 51 (Fifth Avenue becomes State Avenue)
- Turn right onto the ramp to northbound I-79 toward Erie
- End Detour
Alternate Detour
- From eastbound Grand Avenue, bear right onto Neville Road
- Cross the Ohio River via the Fleming Park Bridge
- Turn right onto northbound Route 51 (Robinson Boulevard) toward Coraopolis
- Continue northbound on Route 51 (Robinson Boulevard becomes Coraopolis Road)
- Turn left onto the ramp to northbound I-79 toward Erie
- End Detour
The ramp work in Robinson and Collier townships is part of the $12.6 million project on the Parkway West located between the Ridge Road (Exit 61) and I-79 (Exit 64A) interchanges.
The work in Neville Township is part of the $43.9 million I-79 “S-Bend” Project that included full-depth pavement reconstruction and bridge preservation work.
