A 19-year-old Stowe Township man was arrested Wednesday after authorities who searched his Harlem Avenue residence found equipment and tools capable of illegally modifying firearms, the McKees Rocks Police Department said in a social media post.
Isaac McClinton was arraigned Wednesday in Allegheny County Magisterial District Court on charges of possession of a firearm with an altered manufacturer’s number, a felony, and a misdemeanor count of prohibited acts for the use of or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.
McClinton was released on a $20,000 bond and is scheduled to return to court Oct. 14 for a preliminary hearing to determine if there is sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.
McClinton’s arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the McKees Rocks Police Department, assisted by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General’s Gun Violence Task Force and Stowe Township Police.
According to a criminal complaint, an Allegheny County SWAT team, armed with a search warrant, entered McClinton’s Harlem Avenue residence about 6 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, after discharging one flash bang that prompted two people – including McClinton – to leave the home.
McClinton was taken into custody without incident, transported to the McKees Rocks police station and held while officers searched his residence. There, officers found a number of items that led investigators to believe the McClinton was manufacturing and assembling firearms at his house and that he also might have been altering firearms there.
One of those items, according to the complaint, was a loaded .22-caliber pistol with an obliterated serial number, which was found under McClinton’s mattress.
Officers also found two black digital scales, with one having white residue on it that later tested positive for cocaine, according to the complaint.
“This investigation removed illegal weapons and weapon parts capable of causing catastrophic loss from the hands of an individual with criminal intentions,” the McKees Rocks Police Department’s social media post read.
McKees Rocks police did not respond to calls Thursday seeking further information.
