Robinson Township police officer Steven Paul Pies, 50, faces felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor simple assault charges for what authorities say was an off-duty July 2 attack. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 26 to determine if he stands trial.
Investigation finds magistrate did not commit judicial misconduct

The Judicial Conduct Board dismissed a complaint against Pittsburgh magistrate Xander Orenstein, who faced criticism after releasing a man charged with a fatal stabbing. State Rep. Valerie Gaydos urged the investigation but the Board found no judicial misconduct. Orenstein remains off arraignment duties.
Suspect arraigned in stabbing death of Kennedy man

A 25-year-old man was arraigned Tuesday on a charge of criminal homicide in connection with the stabbing death of a Kennedy man who was found on the Montour Trail Monday afternoon.
