McKees Rocks is joining a pilot program aimed at improving responses to mental health crises by having mental health professionals handle certain 911 calls instead of police. The program, approved unanimously by the borough council, seeks to reduce arrests, de-escalate situations, and promote better outcomes for individuals in distress.
