
The Carlynton girls volleyball team evened its record at 2-2 in Class 2A Section 2 play this week with a pair of victories.
The Cougars defeated East Allegheny, 3-0, Thursday with set scores of 25-11, 25-12 and 25-14. Two days earlier, Carlynton blanked Sto-Rox 3-0 with set scores of 25-10, 25-6 and 25-6.
Carlynton is now 4-2 overall.
In other action this week, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart improved to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in Class 2A Section 1 action by sweeping Aliquippa Tuesday and Northgate Thursday.
Sto-Rox dropped to 0-6 overall and 0-4 in Section 2 play after the loss to Carlynton and a 3-0 loss to South Park Thursday.
In Class 3A, Montour posted a pair of wins, downing Moon, 3-2, Thursday and blanking Oakland Catholic, 3-0, Tuesday. Montour is 4-1 overall and 3-0 in the section, good for a tie for first place with Chartiers Valley.
Moon fell to 1-2 in section play and 3-3 overall with its loss to Montour.
In Class 1A, Bishop Canevin split in two matches this week, beating Fort Cherry, 3-1, Tuesday before losing 3-2 to Eden Christian Academy Thursday.
The Crusaders are 1-2 in Section 5 play and 3-3 overall.
Also in Class 1A, Cornell dropped its lone match of the week, 3-0-, Tuesday to Union. The Raiders are 0-1 in Section 1 play and 1-4 overall.
