The Montour Spartans girls basketball team, led by coach Jordan Giles, begins its season by hosting the Montour Tip Off Tournament, with games against Knoch and Quaker Valley. Sto-Rox also opens its season, competing in the Deer Lakes Tip Off Tournament Friday and Saturday.

New Bishop Canevin coach Tim Tyree Jr. is optimistic for the 2025-26 boys basketball season, building on returning talent from a successful prior season. He plans to go about things a bit differently from his predecessor and is counting on veteran leaders to help show the way.

RMU’s women lost 64-54 to Eastern Michigan, with Bailey Kuhns scoring 25 points.

Moon Area and Bishop Canevin both lost in WPIAL football semifinals, ending their seasons. Moon fell to Pine-Richland 34-24, in Class 5A action while Bishop Canevin lost to Clairton 42-22 in a Class 1A matchup. Both teams finished with 9-4 records.
