Several West Hills communities will benefit from more than $3 million in Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund grants that were awarded Tuesday.
The funding will support well over a dozen projects across municipalities represented by Sens. Devlin Robinson (R-37) and Wayne Fontana (D-42) and Reps. Anita Kulik (D-45), Dan Deasy (D-27), Valerie Gaydos (R-44), Arvind Venkat (D-30), Natalie Mihalek (R-40), Jason Ortitay (R-46), Jeremy Shaffer (R-28) and Andrew Kuzma (R-39).
Projects funded include waterline replacement, sanitary sewer rehabilitation, park upgrades, flood control improvements, traffic signal modernization, ADA-accessible playgrounds and trails, stormwater system renewal, emergency infrastructure planning and enhancements to community gathering spaces.
Local legislators said the investments will strengthen communities and improve public safety and the quality of life for residents across our region. They also said the funds would represent real and tangible progress for local families and businesses.
Project awards include:
- Robinson Township – Forest Grove Road waterline replacement: $100,000.
- Ingram — Tot Lot improvements: $180,000 awarded to the Char-West Council of Governments for new playground equipment, chain link fence, sidewalk and tree removal.
- Crafton – Crafton Pool improvements: $155,000 awarded to the Char-West Council of Governments for ADA upgrades to Crafton Pool. The project includes a new bathhouse roof, new water slide, new ADA pool lift, awning, air conditioning for the concession stand and a new pavilion.
- Thornburg – Sanitary sewer pipe lining: $85,000. The project will provide cured-in-place pipe lining to rehabilitate old deteriorated sanitary sewer pipe.
- Pennsbury Village – Sewage treatment UV system installation: $130,000.
- Rosslyn Farms – Active Pathways Project: $100,000. The work includes new sidewalks and curb along Parish, Kings Highway and the ballfield on Rosslyn Road.
- West End – Community of Change Center: $30,000. The funds will be used for renovations to concrete at the parking lot entrance, repair of load bearing columns, and installation of a kitchenette and computer lab.
- Neville Township – Arizona Avenue waterline replacement: $55,000.
The Gaming Economic Development Tourism Fund provides grants for community improvement, infrastructure upgrades and economic development projects in Allegheny County. Funding is administered through the Commonwealth Financing Authority.
