Moon Area claimed a 55-27 victory over Hopewell in the Moon Tip-Off girls basketball tournament, led by Maria Depner's 28 points. In boys play, Moon downed host Central Catholic. In wrestling, five Moon competitors came home with titles in their respective weight classes at the Chartiers-Houston Invitational.

Carlynton's boys defeated Cornell 47-35, powered by Maurice Segnonou's 12 points and Ishaga Barrie's 11, advancing to face East Allegheny. The Cougars girls team also won its tournament opener. Other West Hills winners Friday included Moon Area boys and OLSH boys.

High school soccer: 16 West Hills players named to All-WPIAL teams
Over a dozen players from five West Hills high schools were recognized on the All-WPIAL soccer teams. Two players -- Kendall Dydek of Moon Area and Owen Minzer -- earlier were named to the All-State team.
Boys basketball: New Carlynton coach working to change Cougars culture
Bobby Williams, new head coach of the Carlynton Cougars, has been focusing on building a positive culture and developing player skills since he took over in June. With a limited roster, he emphasizes an aggressive, physical play style and aims to exceed low preseason expectations as the season begins.
High school roundup: OLSH boys advance in PIAA soccer; Moon girls eliminated
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart boys soccer advanced to the PIAA Class 1A quarterfinals by defeating Bishop Carroll 8-0, with contributions from multiple players. OLSH will face defending champion Lancaster Mennonite next. In Class 3A girls play, Moon Area fell to DuBois, 4-2.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart faced a tough week in the WPIAL playoffs, with all fall sports teams eliminated. However, the girls cross country team excelled, securing a second-place finish at the PIAA Class 1A championship meet, just six points behind the champion.
