The Moon Area Tigers defeated Ambridge 32-0 Wednesday in a girls flag football game, with Syd Ray throwing three touchdown passes. In boys volleyball, South Fayette beat Montour, while Butler triumphed over Moon. Moon's track team had individual successes but was eliminated in Tuesday's playoffs.
Montour's Tyanne Tolbert shone with two touchdowns and defensive leadership in a 24-0 win over Steel Valley. Sto-Rox defeated Keystone Oaks 32-26 and Ambridge 22-20, while Quaker Valley prevailed 18-12 against Our Lady of the Sacred Heart. In girls rugby, Moon Area crushed State College 35-0, and PIAA champion Haley Smarsh was honored at the state Capitol.
Moon Area baseball defeated Upper St. Clair 7-4, powered by Andrew Cross's two-run homer. Montour and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart also won their games. In softball, Moon and OLSH both captured non-section victories.
Montour edged Baldwin 11-10 in a thrilling baseball clash, thanks to Lane Martinec's seventh-inning RBI single. After trading leads, Montour's Tyler Puffer and Zander Stern's homers contributed to the comeback. In other games, Moon rallied to beat Upper St. Clair, and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart dominated Springdale 23-3.
Zander Stern's standout performance helped Montour achieve an 8-7 comeback win against Chartiers Valley. Meanwhile, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart secured an impressive victory over Bethlehem Center. In flag football, Moon downed Sto-Rox and Bishop Canevin beat West Allegheny. In boys volleyball, Montour downed OLSH.
At the Midwestern Athletic Conference track meet, Moon Area athletes excelled, with Rachel Stepp and Sonya Taylor winning multiple events and contributing to victorious relay teams. In softball, Sewickley Academy defeated Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, while Moon fell to Upper St. Clair. In baseball, Taylor Allderdice triumphed over Bishop Canevin with multiple home runs.
Owen Amey's three RBIs led Moon Area to a 10-4 victory over Bethel Park in baseball, while Bishop Canevin overcame a 4-1 deficit to beat Deer Lakes 9-5. Montour defeated McKeesport 5-1. OLSH whipped Aliquippa in girls flag football.
