A host of players from two West Hills high schools were named to Class 5A all-section baseball and softball teams by the Big 56 Conference.
In baseball, Montour placed five players on the Section 4 first team in player of the year Matteo Webber, a senior pitcher; fellow senior pitcher Michael Ivanoff, junior infielder Caleb Armbruster, sophomore infielder Tyler Puffer and junior outfielder Zander Stern.
Montour’s senior utility player Gavin Foley was a second-team all-section selection.
In Section 2, Moon senior infielder Andrew Cross was named player of the year and Tigers coach Josh Rankin was named the section’s top coach.
Two of Cross’ teammates were also chosen to the first team in junior outfielder Savario Vandetti and junior infielder Nick Machusko.
Two Moon seniors – pitcher Tayler Ebner and catcher Taylor Ebner – were named to the second team.
In softball, Montour’s Emily McClean was named player of the year for Section 3 and Spartans’ coach Ken Kutchman was named the section’s top coach.
Named to the first-team all-section squad from Montour were junior infielder Paige Fiedler, senior outfielder Hailey Staub and junior pitcher Savannah McClean.
Moon had two players selected to the first team in senior infielder Sydney Ray and sophomore pitcher Katie DeMarco.
Second-team selections for Montour were junior infielder Caylee Moser and junior catcher Cayley Hughes. Moon’s second-team choices were sophomore outfielder Alina McMahon and freshman utility player Avery Joyce.
