Carlynton’s Bridget McNamara became her school’s first individual champion Thursday at the WPIAL girls cross country Class A championships at White Oak Park in McKeesport, and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart took home the team gold. Both OLSH and Carlynton will advance as a team to the PIAA state meet Nov. 2 in Hershey.

West Allegheny spoiled Montour’s bid at capturing the outright title in the WPIAL Class 4A Parkway Conference, as the Indians punched home a touchdown in overtime for a 13-7 victory at Montour. The Spartans’ fate now is in the hands of the WPIAL playoff seeding committee. (Photos)

Moon’s boys soccer team remained perfect on the season and advanced to the semifinals of the WPIAL Class 3A tournament. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart’s boys also advanced in the Class 1A tournament.

The Montour Spartans beat Aliquippa last week in a Class 4A Parkway Conference showdown, but they haven’t wrapped up the conference title yet. West Allegheny stands in the Spartans’ way Friday night in one of seven games involving West Hills area teams.
