Comcast tech award goes to daycare

Daycare center TT’s ToyBox was recently awarded a suite of new technology devices through Comcast’s RISE program.

The McKees Rocks daycare center is one of four businesses selected from the Greater Pittsburgh region in the latest round of awards, intended to “give small businesses owned by people of color…the tools needed to not just survive, but thrive.”

In total, the center received three Apple iPads, one Dell desktop computer and two Dell laptops as well as an internet and phone bundle.

Owner Natika Proctor said in a press release the award came at a challenging time, as her business has struggled to face the demands posed by the coronavirus.

“In 2020, our center faced very challenging difficulties in providing online schooling for many of our children,” Proctor said. “We were very thankful that Comcast provided tablets, computers and increased internet speed to support a phenomenal outcome for our children to continue learning and our staff to perform additional required training.”
