Fire department secures federal funding

A $134,590 federal grant awarded in late August will enable the McKees Rocks Volunteer Fire Department to replace its aging supply of oxygen tanks.

The pressurized tanks, known as Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBAs), must be regularly serviced and have a recommended lifespan of 15 years.

“This is a huge benefit to the department and will allow us to better serve the borough of McKees Rocks and surrounding communities for many more years to come,” the department stated in a social media post.
