Lola Garner scored a game-high 15 points to spark Our Lady of the Sacred Heart to a 43-26 season-opening girls basketball victory over Beaver Area Monday night at OLSH’s Angela Activities Center.
OLSH sprinted to a 10-0 lead at the end of one quarter and widened that margin to 24-9 at halftime. Garner scored eight of her points in the first half and Macie Trombetta, who finished with 11, contributed a 3-pointer in each of the first two quarters.
Beaver clawed back a bit in quarter No. 3, as Ava Wright and Korrine Davis combined for 11 points to help trim the Chargers’ lead to 31-22 heading into the fourth quarter.
But Trombetta and Garner each scored five points in the final eight minutes as OLSH pulled away for the win.
Montour 63, West Mifflin 28
Tiffany Miller scored 13 points and the host Spartans jumped to a 12-point first-quarter lead on the way to beating the Titans.
Montour scored 20 points in the opening quarter and held West Mifflin to just eight, then used a 13-9 edge in the second quarter to lead 33-17 at halftime.
Brooklyn Young added 10 points for Montour, which improved to 3-0 with the win.
Kendall Lee led West Mifflin with 14 points.
