Girls volleyball: Three West Hills schools qualify for WPIAL postseason play

One of three West Hills area high schools to earn a berth in the WPIAL girls volleyball tournaments will begin its run Monday.

Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, the No. 18 seed, will travel to take on No. 15 Laurel at 7 p.m. in preliminary round match in the Class 2A tournament.

The winner of that match will earn the right to meet No. 2 seed Neshannock at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Neshannock.

OLSH finished the regular season 10-6 overall and 9-5 in Class 2A Section 1, tied for third place with Avonworth.

Laurel went 11-7 overall and 8-4 in Section 4, where it finished third.

In the Class A tournament, Bishop Canevin will host Aquinas Academy at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The seventh-seeded Crusaders went 9-6 overall and 5-3 in Section 5, tied for second with Serra Catholic.

Acquinas Academy, the No. 10 seed, tied for second with Apollo-Ridge in Section 1 with a 7-3 record and went 9-7 overall.

The winner of that match will meet the winner of the Eden Christian Academy-Trinity Christian match in the quarterfinals. Eden Christian Academy is seeded No. 2 and Trinity Christian No. 15.

In the Class 3A tournament, No. 10 seed Montour will visit No. 7 seed Indiana at 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Montour went 11-4 overall and tied for second with Oakland Catholic in Section 1 with a record of 9-3.

The winner of that match will face the winner of a match involving No. 2 seed Mars and the winner of a preliminary round match pitting Derry against Albert Gallatin. That preliminary round match will be played at 7 p.m. Monday at Derry.
