Hearing set tonight for controversial Moon church

A controversial church’s right to hold services on its Coraopolis Heights Road property will be the subject of a public hearing tonight, Sept. 23, before the Moon Township Board of Supervisors.

The hearing, which will take place at 6 p.m. at the Moon Area School District Middle School Auditorium at 904 Beaver Grade Road, focuses on Revival Today Inc’s request to obtain a conditional use permit for property at 1442 Coraopolis Heights Road.

Revival Today has been holding services for several months and has raised the ire of nearby residents who have complained about the noise and traffic to local media outlets.

The township filed an injunction against the property owner – Moses Land LLC – claiming Revival Today began using the property as a place of worship without getting the necessary township approvals.

A judge denied the injunction request, but the township informed the church it would need to obtain the necessary approvals if it wanted to continue operating as a place of worship.
