Loic Kalau led a balanced attack with 14 points to spark Montour to a 52-42 victory over South Allegheny Saturday in a WPIAL nonsection boys basketball contest at LaRoche University.
The Spartans used eight points from Mark Carter to build a 15-7 first-quarter lead over the Gladiators, and Montour led 26-20 at halftime.
South Allegheny outscored the Spartans 13-12 in the third quarter, to pull within 38-33.
But Brandon Bennett came up big in the final eight minutes for Montour, scoring eight of his 12 points to help the Spartans nail down the win.
Carter finished with 12 points for Montour, which posted its first win in five starts.
Drew Cook paced South Allegheny with 19 points.
