Mike Santicola scored a game-high 20 points and earned most valuable player honors as Moon Area downed Streetsboro High School 50-33 Sunday in the OHSBCA Shot Clock Tournament in Canton, Ohio.
The Tigers swept both of their games in the tournament to improve to 8-2 on the season. Moon has now won four straight games.
Moon jumped out to a 16-8 lead after one quarter and extended it to 28-15 at halftime, and the Tigers were never threatened after that.
Amir Turner and Carter Tumulty each contributed 10 points for the winners, who return to action Friday, Jan. 3, against Blackhawk on the road.
Montour 58, Luella (Ga.) 44
Ama Sow scored 15 points and collected 24 rebounds to help the Spartans even their Tampa Bay Christmas Invitational record at 1-1 Saturday.
Kaleb Platz added 20 points, including four 3-pointers, and Colton Straight contributed 10 points for the Spartans, who improved to 7-1 going into Mondays game against Dobyns-Bennett High School of Kingsport, Tenn.
North Allegheny 52, Bishop Canevin 44
Jon Jubeck scored 19 points, 15 of which came on 3-pointers, as the Tigers beat the Crusaders Saturday in the Holiday Bash Tournament.
North Allegheny used a 13-6 edge in the second quarter to build a 26-16 halftime lead, and the Tigers extended it to 39-23 after three quarters.
Bishop Canevin made a run in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Tigers 19-13, but it wasn’t enough.
Drew Allen scored 24 points to lead the Crusaders, 10 of which came in the opening quarter and 12 in the fourth quarter.
Woodland Hills 73, Sto-Rox 19
Scoop Smith scored 12 of his 14 points in the opening quarter as the Wolverines roared to a 30-7 lead and cruised past the Vikings Saturday in the Ambridge Tipoff Holiday tournament.
Donshae Mosley added 12 points for the winners. Karic Wills scored six points to lead Sto-Rox, which fell to 2-4.
GIRLS: Thomas Jefferson 65, Montour 52
Maggie Spell scored 14 of her 22 points in the second half and Kaylee DeAngelo added 20 as the Jaguars whipped the Spartans in the California University of Pennsylvania Tournament.
Thomas Jefferson built a 32-18 lead in the first half, and that proved to be the difference. DeAngelo hit five 3-pointers for the Jaguars.
Tiffany Miller erupted for 20 points for the Spartans, who fell to 4-5, and Abby Cleary and Zoe Woessner each added 12.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 54, Taylor Allderdice 44
The Chargers improved to 8-0 on the season by outscoring the Dragons 30-10 in the second half, erasing a 10-point halftime deficit at the California University of Pennsylvania Tournament.
Leah Parker led OLSH with 16 points and Claudia Ierullo added 11.
