High school football: Nine area players named to all-star game rosters

Nine West Hills area players have been selected to participate in various high school football all-star games that will be played in May.

Daniel Batch, a 6-foot, 190-pounder who played wide receiver and defensive back for Montour, was chosen to play for the Pennsylvania squad in the 68th Big 33 Football Classic.

The game pits the best of the Keystone State against a team of all-stars from Maryland on Sunday, May 25, at Cumberland Valley High School’s Chapman Field. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m.

Batch, who has committed to play football for Division 1 Maine, is listed as a linebacker on the Big 33 roster. The Maine football website lists Batch as a wide receiver.

In addition, two of Batch’s Montour teammates – Mark Dobrowsky and Kaleb Platz – have been named to the West team for the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association 2025 East/West Large School All-Star Game, which will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday, May 18, at the Cumberland Valley.

Dobrowsky was selected as an offensive lineman and Platz as a linebacker.

That game will be preceded at noon by the PSFCA East/West Small School All-Star Game, which will feature six players from West Hills schools.

Named to the West squad were four players from Bishop Canevin – quarterback Kole Olszewski, defensive tackle Braiden Sudor, defensive end Henry Barbisch and cornerback Eddie Benton.

Also selected for the West squad were Our Lady of the Sacred Heart teammates Iseia Schulz, a tight end, and defensive end Vann Kavals, who will be continuing his career at the University of Akron.

This year marks the fifth anniversary of the Small School/Large School format to give more athletes a chance to showcase their talents at a high level.
