Matthew Koch fired a 2-under-par 33 to spark Moon Area’s boys golf team to a 202-204 victory over Montour Thursday at Chartiers Valley Country Club.
Chris Brown added a second-best score of 37 for Moon, which improved to 6-1 in WPIAL Class 3A Section 6 action.
GIRLS GOLF
Moon Area 189, Trinity 201
Angelina Schild and Aubrey Marasco both shot scores of 44 to pace the Tigers past the Hillers Thursday at Nemacolin Country Club.
The win improved Moon’s record to 7-0 overall and 6-0 in section play.
Liv DeGori shot 46 and Marleigh Therrien completed the scoring with a 55 for the Tigers.
Scoring for Trinity were Izzy Lesako (46), Saylor Kitsko (48), Finley Kitsko (51) and Taylor Farabee (56).
Moon’s next outing is scheduled for Tuesday against Peters Township at Valleybrook Country Club.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Cornell 3, Propel Montour 0
The Raiders prevailed in straight sets, posting scores of 25-11, 25-11 and 25-3.
Ringgold 3, Moon Area 0
The Tigers lost their home opener to the Rams in three sets, 27-25, 25-16 and 25-8.
Setter Gabby Bitsura led Moon with 11 assists and two kills. Middle Abbie Warnagiris registered seven kills while outside hitter Reese Keslar contributed six kills and two aces in the loss.
BOYS SOCCER
Montour 3, Baldwin 2
Brayden Borris led the way with a pair of goals as the Spartans topped the Highlanders in a Class 3A Section 4 match.
Dalton Young accounted for Montour’s other goal in the win.
GIRLS SOCCER
Moon Area 3, Blackhawk 1
Riley LaFayette, Julia Shaver and Kendall Dydek each scored one goal to spark the Tigers to a win Wednesday night.
Anna Palm contributed two assists and Emma Marquis set up another goal for Moon.
