Three individual top finishes helped Moon Area finish atop the 18-team field Saturday at the 2026 Ed Driscoll MAC Wrestling Championships, held at Laurel High School.
Finishing atop their respective weight classes were Bryce Thomas at 107 pounds, Liam Costa (172) and Michael Olszewski (189).
Thomas decisioned Angelo Boni of Central Valley, 4-2, in the title match. Costa pinned Domenic Willis of Laurel just 34 seconds into their match, and Olszewski decisioned Quaker Valley’s Trey Dunlap, 5-1.
Four other Tigers wrestlers reached the championship matches in their respective weight classes and wound up finishing second in Hayden Seymour (114), Cael Yanek (133), Zack Regotti (145) and Khalil Razipour (215).
Seymour lost by a 12-3 major decision to Michael Johnson of West Allegheny; Yanek fell 4-1 to Antonio Boni of Central Valley; Regotti lost 5-3 to Harper Sipes of Quaker Valley; and Razipour dropped a 4-0 decision to Kolton Carlson of Laurel.
Also medaling for Moon were Tristan Esken, who placed third at 107; Brayden Tooch, who wound up third at 139; Landow Lower, who finished fourth at 127; Karsten Kirchner, who finished fifth at 121; and Zach Zorn, who placed eighth at 127.
Montour, which finished fifth as a team, had two wrestlers reach the finals. Rook Smith, competing at 152, posted a 10-2 major decision over Ethan Bosco of Central Valley to finish first. West Allegheny’s Ricky Hammel won by technical fall over Montour’s Reese Lugaila at 127 pounds.
Finishing third for Montour were Jacob Chacon (145) and Jacob Halbedl (285) while Kristen Walzer wound up fifth at 107, Thomas Cunningham finished sixth at 160, Damon Nelson placed seventh at 121 and Marco Castleveter also placed seventh at 139.
Carlynton wound up 15th and had two wrestlers finish among the top six. Dominic Ciabattoni won by technical fall over Blackhawk’s Brecken Vandecoevering at 127 to place fifth and Dom Cisnero Torres was pinned by Blackhawk’s Bryce Tunno at 189 and wound up sixth.
Thomas Gargis placed seventh at 152 for the Cougars.

West Allegheny 60, Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 29
A strong second quarter enabled the Indians to take control and roll past the host Chargers in a WPIAL nonsection game.
The Chargers played the victorious Indians on near-even terms in the first eight minutes, trailing just 16-12 going into the second quarter.
But West Allegheny outscored OLSH 17-5 in that quarter to extend its lead to 33-17 at halftime.
The Indians continued to pull away in the second half, putting 27 points on the board in the final two quarters to 12 for the Chargers.
Emma Rupeto scored 15 points to lead West Allegheny while Bre Gubba and Alexis Santucci each added 11 and Ella Smith chipped in 10.
Maci Trombetta scored 10 points to pace OLSH, which saw a four-game winning streak come to an end in falling to 8-3 overall.
