High school roundup: Moon’s Antoniades reaches 1,000-mark in career volleyball assists

Moon Area senior setter Elina Antoniades reached the 1,000-mark for assists in her career by registering 33 assists against Chartiers Valley, but the Tigers came up short in a 3-2 loss to the Colts in a Class 3A Section 1 girls volleyball clash played Thursday night.

Chartiers Valley trailed 2-1 but came back for the victory, with the set scores 17-25, 25-20, 21-25, 25-11, 15-13.

In addition to reaching the 1,000-mark for assists, Antoniades had five kills, three aces, 16 digs and two blocks. Libero Danica Bacu had 33 digs, seven assists and two kills for Moon while Reese Keslar had 13 kills and seven digs, Juls Corrado added nine kills and 15 digs and Abbie Warnagiris finished with seven kills and four blocks.


GIRLS SOCCER

Seton LaSalle 2, Carlynton 0

The Rebels scored a goal in each half and held the Cougars scoreless in posting the shutout in a Class 1A Section 3 match played Saturday.

The loss leaves Carlynton with an overall record of 8-7-1 and a 6-5 mark in section play.


Moon Area 4, Shaler 1

Kendall Dydek scored a pair of goals to spark the Tigers past the Titans in a nonsection game.

Junie Shaver tallied one goal for Moon, which also made use of an own goal by Shaler.

Quinn Arnold assisted on one goal for Moon, which improved to 15-1-0 overall and is 11-0-0 in section play.
