Reese Vojtecky drained four 3-pointers on the way to a game-high 14 points, leading Montour to a 61-26 victory over Lincoln Park Friday in a WPIAL girls nonsection basketball game at Montour.
Montour bolted out of the gate to a 25-7 lead after one quarter and that essentially was the game.
The Spartans led 34-10 at halftime and 52-20 heading into the final eight minutes of play.
Claire Bannon scored 10 points for Montour, which improved to 10-2 overall, and Siena Palmer added 10.
Astyn Michael led Lincoln Park with 12 points.
SWIMMING
Moon Area vs. North Hills
Both the Tigers boys and girls teams opened the new year with victories in a WPIAL Class 3A Section 2 dual meet. In the girls meet, Moon pulled out a hard-fought 94-90 victory while the boys rolled to an 87-65 win.
In the girls meet, Anya Muralidharan and Mimi Munnell each won two events while Addi Munnell and Melina Toliver-Lehman each posted one first-place finish.
In the boys meet, Chris Bailey and Logan Ellis each won two events, as did Evan Slawuta and Anthony Demarco.
The Tigers girls team improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in section action while the boys team improved to 2-2 and 1-0 in the section.
The Tigers next head to perennial state powerhouse North Allegheny on Thursday, Jan. 8.
