High school sports: Moon Area girls open golf season with a win

The 2025-26 West Hills high school sports season is off and running, as the Moon Area girls golf team opened play Friday, Aug. 8, with a 167-210 victory over Trinity in a WPIAL Class 3A Section 2 match at Moon Golf Club.

The Tigers were led by senior Aubrey Marasco, who carded a career-best score of 39.

Senior Angelina Schild and junior Liv DeGori also had solid rounds, finishing with scores of 40.

Schild barely missed on a 30-foot eagle attempt on the par-5 16th hole but tapped in for a birdie. DeGori birdied the par-5 12th hole and posted a team-low 15 putts.

Senior Marleigh Therrien rounded out the scoring with a 48.

The Tigers return to action Tuesday, Aug. 12, against South Fayette at Hickory Heights Golf Course.
