The Carlynton boys swim team used a victorious effort in the 400-yard freestyle relay to edge Keystone Oaks, 69-67, Friday night in a WPIAL Class 2A Section 1 dual meet at Keystone Oaks.
In the girls meet, Keystone Oaks prevailed by an 84-66 score.
The boys meet came down to the final event – the 400 free relay — and Carlynton’s quartet of Harry Miller, Dominic Hixenbaugh, Dom Sans-Pelescak and Graham Harman placed first with a time of 3 minutes, 54.93 seconds – nearly 17 seconds faster than the Eagles unit.
The same four Carlynton swimmers also swam on the victorious 200 medley relay squad and three of them posted two individual event wins.
Hixenbaugh won the 200 IM and 100 butterfly, Sans-Pelescak took first in the 50 free and 100 free, and Harman won the 500 free and 100 back. Miller also placed first in the 200 free.
On the girls side, Sarah Loney and Evey Fahnestock claimed first-place finishes in two individual events.
Loney won the 200 free and 500 free while Fahnestock took the 50 free and 100 breaststroke.
Fahnestock also took part in the Cougars’ winning 200 medley and 200 free relay efforts along with Allie Glass, Mallory Rose and Chloe Baum.
Glass also won the 100 butterfly, Rose placed first in the 100 freestyle and Baum won the 100 back.
