High school wrestling: Five pins help Moon Area roll past Montour

The Moon Area wrestling team used pins from five different competitors to roll to a 54-18 victory over Montour Wednesday night in a WPIAL Class 3A Section 1 dual meet at Moon.

The Tigers claimed victories in five of the first six weight classes, with three wrestlers winning by fall.

Bryce Thomas stopped Montour’s Kristen Walzer at 2 minutes, 32 seconds of their bout at 107 pounds; Hayden Seymour pinned Parker Sedlock at 1:02 of their 114-pound match; and Landon Lower pinned Reese Lugaila at 2:12 of their match at 127.

Also registering victories by fall for Moon were Brayden Tooch at 139 and Michael Olszewski at 189.

Tooch stopped Montour’s Marco Castleveter at 1:26 and Olszewski pinned Andrew Cisneros at 1 minute even.

For Montour, Damon Nelson pinned Jaden Saroca at 2:54 of their match at 121; Jacob Chacon decisioned Zachary Regotti, 13-9, at 145; Rook Smith pinned Abdul Tabee at 1:21 of their 152-pound bout; and Thomas Cunningham decisioned Maximus Gould, 12-6, at 160.

The Tigers also were aided by three forfeit victories at 133, 215 and 285.
