High schools: Moon Area girls take MAC golf tournament title
Liv DeGori shot a 2-over-par 38 to lead Moon Area to its fifth straight MAC girls golf title Thursday at Black Hawk Golf Club.
DeGori tied for second individually and led the Tigers to a team score of 124, nine strokes ahead of Mars, which finished at 133. Beaver placed third with a team total of 136.
The event was shortened to nine holes due to poor weather conditions and the competing teams had to wait out a two-hour weather delay before play began.
Moon’s Hope Cordle shot 39 to finish fifth overall and the Tigers’ Adi Hallahan wound up shooting 47 to place 11th in the 35-player field.

The Tigers fell in straight sets, 25-10, 25-14, 25-10 in a nonsection match Thursday.
Gabby Bitsura totaled six assists for Moon while Ellie Carothers had four kills and Emily Lampich led with six digs.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 3, Frazier 2
Frankie Schlatterer and Bella Coladonato each registered 13 kills and the Chargers outlasted the host Commodores to win 25-20, 25-16, 20-25, 16-25, 15-6.
Macie Trombetta had 10 kills and two aces, Carmella Rippole contributed 33 assists and Sophia Wasko had six aces and three digs. Schlatterer also chipped in five aces in the win.
