Brody Bauman and Braeden Stuart combined for 37 points as Moon Area rolled to a 76-38 victory over Mars Friday night in a WPIAL Class 5A Section 4 contest at Moon.
Moon, 16-3 overall and 7-3 in section play, led by just three points after one quarter, 13-10, but turned on the gas in the second quarter, outscoring the Fightin’ Planets 26-11 to build a 39-21 halftime lead.
The Tigers continued to apply the heat, putting up 21 more points in the third quarter to extend their lead to 60-31 heading into the final eight minutes.
Bauman finished with 19 points for Moon, ranked No. 3 among Class 5A schools by TribLive, and Stuart added 18.

Montour 50, West Allegheny 44
The Spartans used full-court pressure to turn the tide in the final quarter, erasing a nine-point deficit to post a Class 5A Section 4 victory over the host Indians.
The win was the fourth in the last five outings for Montour, which improved to 7-12 overall and 4-6 in the section.
Montour led by three at the end of one quarter but West Allegheny, led by Josiah Johnson’s 14 points, outscored the Spartans 16-6 in the second quarter to lead 23-16 at halftime.
The Indians maintained the upper hand and led 36-28 heading into the last quarter.
But Montour’s defense turned up the pressure in the last eight minutes, helping the Spartans outscore the Indians 22-8 and come away with the win.
Mark Carter scored 12 of his game-high 20 points in the final quarter for Montour and Rob Schmitt hit a pair of key 3-point baskets that put Montour in front for good.
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 57, Shenango 19
Jake Johnson scored 12 of his 20 points in the first half to help stake the Chargers to a 23-point halftime lead and they went on to whip the host Wildcats in a Class 2A Section 4 contest.
Tiernan McCullough added 13 points and Nolan Reed contributed 12 for OLSH, which improved to 15-4 overall and 10-1 in section play. The Chargers are ranked No. 3 in their class by TribLive.
No one scored more than five points for Shenango.
Bishop Canevin 53, Carlynton 41
Drew Allen hit for a game-high 22 points and Damar Olds added 12 as the Crusaders downed the Cougars in a Class 3A Section 2 contest at Carlynton.
Bishop Canevin, 11-7 overall and 7-0 in section play and ranked No. 4 in Class 3A, led 13-8 after one quarter and 29-19 at halftime.
Carlynton, which got 12 points apiece from Ishaga Barrie and Maurice Segnonow, pulled to within eight points heading into the final quarter, but the Crusaders maintained their margin to secure the win.
Carlynton fell to 5-14 overall and 1-7 with the loss.
Washington 62, Sto-Rox 58
Vincent Johnson scored 22 points and took advantage of a late turnover and several missed shots down the stretch to beat the visiting Vikings in a Class 3A Section 2 game.
Sto-Rox, led by LJ Washington’s 20 points, trailed 17-8 after one quarter but turned the tables on the Prexies in the second quarter, outscoring them 21-8 to take a 29-25 halftime lead.
Tristan Reed’s 10 third-quarter points helped Washington regain the advantage, outscoring Sto-Rox 22-16 to lead 47-45 entering the final quarter.
The game remained tight down the stretch before a pair of missed free throws and a missed layup cost the Vikings a chance to win.
Delaun Harris added 14 points for Sto-Rox, which fell to 7-13 overall and 3-5 in the section. Marcus Griffin added 13 for the Vikings.
Vincent Johnson paced Washington with 20 and Reed added 14.
Avella 63, Cornell 49
Brayden Fuller and Cameron Ullom each scored 17 points as the Eagles defeated the Raiders in a Class 1A Section 1 matchup at Cornell.
Bryce Wright added 13 for Avella, which led by 11 points at halftime.
Cornell, which fell to 4-14 overall and 2-6 in the section, trimmed the margin to eight going into the final quarter but the Eagles held on for the win.
Eduardo Benitez and Terrance Collington each scored 16 points to lead the Raiders.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 51, Sto-Rox 27
Lola Garner scored a game-high 14 points and the Chargers used a huge third-quarter advantage to lock up a Class 3A Section 1 win over the host Vikings.
OLSH, now 13-6 overall and 7-4 in the section, led 28-16 at halftime before outscoring Sto-Rox 15-3 in the third quarter to put the game away.
Allie Dotson scored 11 points to lead Sto-Rox, which fell to 7-9 overall and 4-7 in section competition. Brooklynn Sykes added 11 points for the Vikings.
West Allegheny 61, Montour 50
Emma Ruperto led all scorers with 22 points as the Indians used a big fourth quarter to wrap up a Class 5A Section 3 win over the Spartans.
Montour, led by Tiffany Miller’s 12 points, led 17-12 after one quarter but West Allegheny had the edge in the second, outscoring Montour 17-11 to take a one-point lead at halftime.
The Indians maintained that one-point lead at 41-40 going into the last quarter but used a 20-10 advantage to gain the victory.
Sofia Brandy added 11 points for Montour, which dropped to 12-6 overall and 4-6 in conference play. West Allegheny, which also got 14 points from Ella Smith, 13 from Alexis Santucci and 10 from Sky Gubba, improved to 15-4 overall and 8-2 in section play.
