Jake Huet posted a hat trick, with all three of his goals coming in the second half to help Our Lady of the Sacred Heart blank Aquinas Academy, 6-0, in WPIAL boys soccer action Wednesday at Youthtowne.
Goals by Wyatt Walsh in the 25th minute and Grant Griesacker with five minutes remaining in the opening half gave OLSH a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Griesacker assisted on Walsh’s goal and Hunter Smith set up Griesacker’s goal.
Then in the second half, Huet scored with 30 minutes remaining and Smith made it 4-0 12 minutes later. Huet netted his second goal off a free kick from Isaac Tarbuk, and Huet completed his hat trick with an assist from Blake Bennett.
Caiden Price assisted on Huet’s first goal of the game.
Jack DeWhirst made three saves in goal for OLSH, which improved to 2-2.
GIRLS SOCCER
Moon Area 1, Allderdice 0
Taylor McConnell scored the game’s only goal to lead the Tigers past the Dragons in a nonsection game.
Emma Marquos assisted on McConnell’s goal. Sammie D’Alesio recorded the clean sheet in goal for Moon.
Montour 3, Thomas Jefferson 1
Irelynn Hobbs continued her hot start by scoring two more goals, leading the Spartans past the Jaguars in a nonsection game.
Kaci Mitcheltree added Montour’s third goal and Brooklyn Young assisted on two of the Spartans’ three goals.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Our Lady of the Sacred Heart 3, Shenango 0
The Chargers won by set scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 26-24, coming from behind in the third set. OLSH trailed 24-23 before posting the final three points to win the set and the match.
Frankie Schlatterer collected seven kills, four blocks, three aces and two assists and Addy Batts also added seven kills. Carmella Rippole contributed 15 assists and a solo block and Sophia Wasko had six aces.
GIRLS GOLF
Moon Area 192, Bethel Park 200
Medalist Liv DeGori set the pace for the Tigers, shooting a 2-over-par 38 at Lindenwood Golf Club.
Adi Hallahan continued her strong play by shooting 49, followed by Hope Cordle (50) and Lily Giunipero (55).
Kayle Kreigline led Beth Park by carding a 40.
