Land donated to township should relieve traffic woes

Traffic woes around Park Manor Boulevard in Robinson may soon be alleviated by the introduction of an extension to Urbano Way.

This extension would be built on a parcel of land recently gifted to the Township of Robinson by Queensland Investment Company to connect the road to Robinson Centre Drive. The proposed thoroughfare has the potential to reduce traffic congestion in the area, especially on Park Manor Boulevard where vehicles leaving businesses on Urbano Way and Costco Drive tend to back up.

“There was a parcel of land that was going to be deeded to the township, which eventually would have been ours anyway, so to make Urbano Way legal and the development go through they did donate a small parcel of land you couldn’t build on anyway,” said Township Manager Frank Piccolino.

The Australia-based Queensland Investment Company owns The Mall at Robinson.

Plans for the road will extend Urbano Way up the hill to the intersection of Robinson Town Centre Boulevard and Robinson Centre Drive which serves as an entrance to the mall complex.

“This got done pretty quick, so that’s a good thing,” said Piccolino. “Usually, these things take a couple months.”
