Utility work on Route 51 (Coraopolis Road, State Avenue) in Coraopolis Borough and Moon Township will begin Monday, Aug. 24, weather permitting, the State Department of Transportation (PennDOT) said Friday.

Single-lane alternating traffic restrictions controlled by flaggers will occur on Route 51 between Carina Lane and Robert Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through late October. Crews from Miller Pipeline will conduct gas main replacement work for Columbia Gas. No restrictions will occur from Sept. 4-7 in observance of Labor Day.

Service academy nomination period opens

U.S. Rep. Chris Deluzio (PA-17) announced that his office is accepting nomination applications from eligible constituents to attend a United States service academy.

Eligible constituents must be at least 17 years old, must reside within Pennsylvania’s 17th Congressional District, and must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
