Overnight I-79 ramp work continues next week

PennDOT District 11 has announced that concrete patching and shoulder work requiring closures of the southbound I-79 ramps at the Route 60 (Exit 60) interchange in Robinson and Kennedy townships will continue Monday night, Aug. 12, weather permitting.

The following ramps will close to traffic for concrete patching and shoulder work according to the following schedule:

Northbound Route 60 to I-79 south

  • Monday through Thursday, Aug. 12-15 – 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night

Southbound I-79 to Route 60 South/Crafton (Exit 60A)

  • Monday through Thursday, Aug. 12-15 – 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night

Ramp traffic will be detoured during the work.

Northbound Route 60 to I-79 south

  • Take the I-79 north ramp
  • Take the Route 51/Coraopolis/McKees Rocks (Exit 64) exit
  • Turn left onto Coraopolis Road/Route 51 north
  • Turn left onto the on-ramp to I-79 south
  • End Detour

Southbound I-79 to Route 60 South/Crafton (Exit 60A)

  • Continue south on I-79
  • Take the Carnegie (Exit 57) exit
  • Turn left onto West Main Street
  • Turn right onto the ramp to I-79 north towards Erie
  • Take the Route 60/Crafton/Moon Run (Exit 60) exit
  • End Detour

This work is weather dependent and may not occur each night.

Work on this $14.97 million highway restoration project in Robinson and Kennedy townships began in early April 2024.

The project begins at the I-376 Airport/Pittsburgh (Exit 59 A/B) interchange and continues approximately one-half mile north of the Route 60 Moon Run/Crafton (Exit 60 A/B) interchange.

The work includes concrete pavement patching, guide rail and cable barrier replacement, highway lighting and signing updates, drainage work, pavement markings and other miscellaneous construction activities on mainline I-79 and ten ramps –four at the I-376 interchange and six ramps at the Route 60 interchange.
