Quaker Valley girls end OLSH’s win streak at five

The Our Lady of the Sacred Heart girls volleyball team saw its five-match winning streak come to a halt in a 3-0 loss to Quaker Valley Thursday night, Sept. 19, at Cornell High School.

The loss dropped the Chargers’ record to 5-1 in WPIAL Class 2A Section 1 action and 6-2 overall.

Quaker Valley remained unbeaten in section play, moving to 6-0 and 7-1 overall.

Quaker Valley won the first game 25-15, then took the final two games 25-12 and 25-18.

OLSH had won nine straight sets going into Thursday night’s match, as they swept their three previous opponents – Aliquippa, Northgate and New Brighton — by 3-0 scores.

In another match involving a West Hills area school, Seton LaSalle topped Carlynton, 3-1, with game scores of 25-18, 25-21, 21-25 and 25-18.

Carlynton dropped to 2-4 in Class 2A Section 2 play and 4-3 overall while Seton LaSalle improved to 3-3 and 4-5.
