RMU football: Colonials look to extend win streak to three at home against Wagner

The Robert Morris Colonials will be looking for their third consecutive Northeast Conference football victory Saturday, Nov. 8, when they host the Wagner Seahawks.

Kickoff will be at noon at Joe Walton Stadium.

The matchup will involve two teams carrying two-game win streaks and the exact same record. The Colonials are 3-6 overall and 2-2 in conference and coming off a 20-17 win at Stonehill last weekend in Easton, Mass.

Robert Morris scored first against the Skyhawks on a 36-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Zach Tanner to Chaz Middleton, but Stonehill stormed back in the second quarter with 17 points.

Stonehill led into the fourth quarter until Tanner connected on an 18-yard touchdown pass to Richard Ransom, which gave RMU a lead that it would not relinquish. Jayson Jenkins added two field goals during the game, including one of 44 yards.

Tanner completed 9 of 22 passes for 111 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Ethan Shine had his second consecutive 100-yard rushing game with 122 yards on the ground. Defensively, Trey Woods and Eldrick Robinson both had eight tackles.

Staten Island-based Wagner comes into Saturday’s game after defeating Saint Francis 23-20 last week. The Seahawks also have wins over Norfolk State and Duquesne and losses to the Kansas Jayhawks, Central Michigan, Central Connecticut State, Georgetown, Marist and Mercyhurst.
