The Robert Morris football team is currently riding a four-game losing streak but will have an opportunity to return to the win column Saturday when the Colonials travel to nearby Loretto to take on the Red Flash of Saint Francis in a Northeast Conference game.
Kickoff is at 3 p.m. at DeGol Field in Loretto.
Both teams have struggled thus far in the season with RMU being the only one of the two programs to have recorded a win. Robert Morris currently sits at 1-6 and 0-2 in conference play, while Saint Francis is 0-6 and 0-2 in conference.
The Colonials saw the return of starting quarterback Zach Tanner in their loss to Long Island University last week. The defeat marked the first time that Robert Morris has lost to the Sharks from New York City.
Even with the return of Tanner, who had missed the past three games, the Colonials’ offense continued to struggle, as they are averaging 12 points per game. Defensively, RMU has seen a gradual improvement as the season has progressed.
Statistically, Tanner is the leading passer going 52 of 100 with five touchdowns and only one interception.
On the ground, Ethan Shine continues to be the leading rusher with 285 yards, followed by Donta Whack with 214. Chaz Middleton leads in receptions with 16 for 279 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Patrick McDonnell is the leading tackler with 56 on the season.
Saint Francis lost to Duquesne in Pittsburgh last week, 52-7, and has suffered additional losses this season to Louisiana-Monroe, University of Buffalo, Central Connecticut State, Delaware State and Bucknell.
