The Robert Morris men’s hockey team, looking to rebound after getting swept last weekend, will play back-to-back home games against the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Tigers Friday, Nov. 14, and Saturday, Nov. 15.
Both games will begin at 7 p.m. at the Robert Morris Island Sports Center’s Clearview Arena.
The Colonials are 2-5-1 overall and 2-0 in Atlantic Hockey America Conference play, and RIT is 7-2 overall and 4-2 in the conference. The Tigers are coming off a sweep of Mercyhurst last weekend and have won seven straight games.
The Colonials dropped a pair of nonconference games last weekend to Long Island University, falling 6-3 and 2-0.
In the first game, LIU scored two goals in each period and had 27 saves by goaltender Daniel Duris. Robert Morris tried to keep pace with a first-period goal by Dominic Elliott and third-period goals by Patrick Johnson and Cameron Garvey, but it wasn’t enough.
Saturday’s game proved to be more offensively challenging for the Colonials, as they could not figure out Duris in a 2-0 shutout loss.
Duris had 31 saves while RMU goalie Charlie Schenkel registered 28 saves in the defensive battle. Long Island is now 4-5 for the season.
Eight games into the season, Bruce McDonald leads the Colonials in scoring with seven points (all assists); Tanner Klimpke and Jackson Reineke lead in goals with three each. Schenkel has a 3.53 goals against average.
