Pennsylvania officials have announced state funding for upgrades to the Crafton Community Pool, recreational trails along Pittsburgh’s three rivers and funding toward the remediation and stabilization of a building in the McKees Rocks business district.
The state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources awarded the following grants through the Community Conservation Partnership Program:
• $250,000 to Crafton Borough for the rehabilitation of Crafton Community Pool, including renovating the bathhouse and concession stand, installing utilities, ADA access, landscaping and other site improvements.
• $26,000 to Friends of the Riverfront Inc. to prepare a Water Trail Management Plan for the Three Rivers Water Trail in Allegheny County.
• $100,600 to Riverlife to prepare a trail study for the Three Rivers Heritage Trail on the West End Bridge.
“These investments provide a boost to recreational areas where people can enjoy the outdoors and connect with their communities,” said Rep. Dan Deasy.
“The improvements to the Crafton Community Pool and preparing plans for land and water trails along the Three Rivers helps to encourage people to visit these areas and makes them more accessible for all.”
The Keystone Communities Program (KCP) is providing grants for 34 projects in 22 counties across Pennsylvania, including locally in McKees Rocks:
The McKees Rocks Community Development Corporation is receiving $250,000 to remediate and stabilize a commercial building located at 602 Chartiers Ave. in the McKees Rocks business district.
The KCP program is designed to encourage the creation of partnerships between the public and private sectors that jointly support local initiatives such as the growth and stability of neighborhoods and communities; social and economic diversity; and a strong and secure quality of life.
