State infrastructure check presented

State Rep. Anita Kulik joined Kennedy officials at the township’s Jan. 14 business meeting to present a $238,000 check earmarked for sewage upgrades.

The grant, fronted by Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection, will fund a sewer line repair along Clever Road near its intersection with Maple Lane. Interim Manager Mel Weinstein said he expects bids to go out in the spring and work to start in the summer.

“I was happy to help put in my support for this,” Kulik said. “…I hope this helps with the project.”

Fleet inspections

Also during the meeting, Weinstein praised street department worker Justin Gutt for helping curb township expenses by conducting state-mandated inspections on township vehicles.

Weinstein said Gutt paid his own way through the certification program and now inspects the fleet of public works and police vehicles in-house.

“I have to compliment and commend this guy… he saves us all that money — because now he does that on the job,” said Weinstein.
