Trial date set for two men charged in Kennedy Township assault; third defendant awaits arraignment

Two of the three men charged with rape, sexual assault and other crimes in connection with an incident that police say involved two teenage girls and occurred at a Kennedy Township home in December are scheduled to stand trial in August.

Amaud Berry, 18, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Andre Hines, 20, of McKees Rocks, were formally arraigned last week on numerous charges in connection with the incident, which took place between Dec. 12 and Dec.14, according to court documents.

A third defendant, Dashawn Hines, 19, of McKees Rocks, had his formal arraignment moved from March 19 to April 16.

An Aug. 3 trial date was set for Berry and Andre Hines, and a status hearing was scheduled for June 17 for both defendants. No trial date has been set yet for Dashawn Hines.

All three men were arrested on Dec. 15, 2025, in connection with an incident that authorities say took place at a home on Castle View Drive in mid-December 2025.

Dashawn Hines remains in custody. Berry was released from custody Jan. 23 and Andre Hines was released from custody on Jan. 28.

Andre Hines and Berry are facing more than two dozen charges, including 16 felony charges. The charges include three counts each of sexual assault and corruption of minors, and two counts each of rape by forcible compulsion, rape of a substantially impaired person, conspiracy to commit rape by forcible compulsion, and unlawful restraint of a minor,

Dashawn Hines also is facing more than two dozen charges, including two counts each of sexual assault, rape by forcible compulsion, rape of a substantially impaired person, conspiracy to commit rape by forcible compulsion, false imprisonment and unlawful restraint of a minor.

Some of the offenses alleged to have been committed by the three men occurred on Dec. 12, 2025, and some on Dec. 14, 2025, according to court records.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Kennedy police received a call at about 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, to check on the two girls, ages 14 and 16, after they were told the two girls were being held against their will by adults at a residence.

While responding to the call, officers found the two girls walking on Ewing Road, and the girls identified the home where they said they had been held. The two girls were then transported to UPMC Children’s Hospital for medical evaluation, and they were later interviewed by Allegheny County police detectives at the hospital.

According to court records, the girls told detectives they used drugs at a home on Castle View Drive, then were restrained before being raped by the three men.
